The Happy Birthday Vanilla Cake scented candle is a lovely way to make their birthday feel that little bit more special. Presented in a clear glass holder with a soft ivory wax and a cheerful “Happy Birthday, Make a Wish” label, it comes beautifully packaged in a pink, cream and coral tubular gift box, so it already feels like a present before it is even opened. The vanilla cake fragrance has that sweet, warm bakery scent you naturally associate with birthdays, making it especially fitting for the occasion. With an approximate 35 hour burn time, it is something they can light on their birthday and keep enjoying long after the celebrations are over. A lovely choice for a birthday gift box or Build Your Own Gift Box when you want to add something that feels both celebratory and genuinely useful.

Why We Love It

Something Different Wholesale has been creating gift and homeware ranges for years, with many of its products designed by its own creative team. We like the way they take familiar gifting ideas and make them feel a little more considered, especially when the presentation is part of the experience. This candle stood out because the tubular birthday packaging makes it feel ready to give straight away, while the vanilla cake fragrance ties the whole idea together in a way that feels genuinely suited to a birthday.

FAQs

How do I stop a candle from tunnelling?

On the first burn, give the wax enough time to melt across most of the surface rather than lighting it briefly and blowing it out again. Short burns can create a “memory ring”, which may cause the candle to continue burning down the centre instead of using the wax evenly. Always follow the candle’s own safety instructions and never leave it unattended.

Should I trim the wick before lighting the candle?

Yes. A wick of around 6mm is generally recommended before each burn. Keeping the wick trimmed helps the candle burn more evenly and can reduce smoking, soot and an overly large flame. Remove any loose wick trimmings from the wax before lighting too.

How long should I burn the candle at one time?

Follow the instructions supplied with the candle first. As a general candle-care rule, candles should not usually be burned for more than four hours at a time, and they should be allowed to cool before being relit.

Why can candle glass sometimes become sooty?

Black marks on candle glass are usually linked to the way the flame is burning rather than the glass itself. A wick that is too long or a candle placed in a draught can cause flickering and soot. Keeping the wick trimmed and burning the candle away from open windows, fans and strong air currents can help.
